DTH Drilling (Down-The-Hole) drilling is a type of rock drilling that uses a pneumatic hammer located behind the drill bit, allowing the percussion mechanism to follow the bit into the hole. The drill pipes provide feed force, rotation, and compressed air for the hammer. Air blows cuttings up from the bottom of the hole. Additional drill pipes are added to the top as the hole deepens. The piston strikes the bit's impact surface, while the hammer casing guides it. The fast impacts break hard rock into small particles, which are expelled by the air.
DTH Drilling,DTH is efficient in hard rock formations and widely used in mining and construction. It has advantages like high penetration rate and ease of use but can be challenging in very deep or hard rock layers.
